Fun Weekend at Indiana Artisan Marketplace

Each year, Indiana Artisan hosts their Marketplace event to bring the state’s highest-quality artisans together. This was my second time participating, as I juried into Indiana Artisan in the fall of 2022.

It was a bit stressful preparing for Marketplace this year! A couple weeks before Marketplace, we had the bakery’s soft opening. And then immediately prior to Marketplace was spring break. I planned a family trip before the bakery was even a glimmer in my eye, so I decided to stick with the trip. Plus, after months of getting the bakery ready to open, I was in a need of a vacation! 😂

Indiana Artisan’s Marketplace is one of my favorite events of the year. It is the one time that I see my fellow Artisans and get to enjoy their artwork and food. I especially enjoy seeing Marsha Quarles (Marsha's Specialty Desserts & Tierney's Catering), Jayne Hoadley (J. Evelyn Confections), Carrie Abbott (Newfangled Confections & The Best Chocolate in Town), Jill Dunn (Jill Dunn Designs, and my second mom growing up), and Taylor Walker (Taylored Illustration). Many of you have seen Taylor’s work. She is the talented artist who painted the beautiful mural in the bakery! 😍

I also enjoy sharing my story and my craft at Marketplace. Customers visit not only to shop but to learn more about how each Artisan got their start. It’s always a good reminder of why I do what I do. 

I’m excited to continue my journey as an Indiana Artisan and to continue attending events like these.
