At the recent Christkindlmarkt, we made over 8,000 marshmallows! And had a lot of fun!
In the summer of 2023, I met Monica Urick at the Indiana Grown June Marketplace at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. She owns Urick Concessions which operates catering and concessions at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. They also run multiple booths at Carmel’s Christkindlmarkt, including those yummy spiral potatoes!
She mentioned that she might be interested in homemade marshmallows for their hot chocolate booth at Christkindlmarkt that winter. I was so excited about this potential opportunity. I was even more excited when it became a reality later that year!
Neither Monica nor I knew how their specialty hot chocolate with a Bakester marshmallow would sell. People ended up loving it! For five weeks in November and December, my team and I made more marshmallows than you could ever imagine.
Every day, we were maxing out production making as many marshmallows as we could to keep up with the demand of the market. It was a very exciting and stressful time! When all was said and done, we made 8,504 marshmallows. Yes… over 8,000 marshmallows! In five weeks!
I can’t wait to do it again next year! 😁
